Artist's Description
This 2d mixed media artwork is created with multiple layers. The canvas is wrapped with black velvet ribbon around the edges of the canvas. The background is ivory, handmade paper with a silver, metallic leaf pattern. The paper is sealed for water-resistance. The black naped monarch's wing and beak are collage and the remainder of the bird is created with acrylic paint. The branch, which wraps over the velvet ribbon edge, is created with 3 types of handmade paper and is layered with mica flakes to add a bit of sparkle.
