This 2d mixed media, original artwork is created with multiple layers. The background is handmade paper with metallic, acrylic paint. The back of the bird’s head and neck is collaged with small, pieces of magazine text; the feathers over the beak are handmade out of 4 types of paper; the remainder of the bird is created with acrylic paint. The edges of the canvas is wrapped with black, velvet ribbon.
As an artist I find inspiration from nature, its beauty is never ending. Just like original artwork, no two are ever the same. . .constant variances, constant evolution. Over the years I’ve worked with many different media, always focusing on color and texture to develop richness and depth. I love experimenting with new techniques and materials to constantly challenge myself. My 2-D mixed media artwork is comprised of collage and acrylic paint. By focusing on birds and flowers, the availability of beautiful subject matter is never ending.
