This 2d mixed media artwork is created with multiple layers. The 16 x 20 inch canvas is wrapped with black velvet ribbon around the edges of the 2 inch deep canvas. The background is handmade paper. The monarch's body is collage; the remainder of the butterfly is created with acrylic paint.
As an artist I find inspiration from nature, its beauty is never ending. Just like original artwork, no two are ever the same. . .constant variances, constant evolution. Over the years I’ve worked with many different media, always focusing on color and texture to develop richness and depth. I love experimenting with new techniques and materials to constantly challenge myself. My 2-D mixed media artwork is comprised of collage and acrylic paint. By focusing on birds and flowers, the availability of beautiful subject matter is never ending.
